CartGenie v5.0+: Using e-Gift Card Balance on In-Store Purchase

Summary:

Situation:  You have a customer that has an e-Gift card that wants to use the card to purchase in your store.

Solution: You will need to make the gift card unusable / with a balance of zero. Depending on how you handle in-store transactions, we suggest one of the
following:  Make the gift card unusable by canceling the e-gift card or running the order through CartGenie manually.

The best way to do make an e-gift card unusable is to set the Status to Cancelled and the Ship quantity to zero for the original card purchase.  This would ensure that the customer would not be able to use the gift card.  It would also be a good idea to use the Internal Notes in the Order Manager to reference why the order was changed.

You could also run the order through your web site manually.  You could log in to your website and place an order as the customer, applying the e-gift card towards the purchase. Then when you process the order in the order manager you could make any adjustments needed to shipping charges, etc. to match the balance of her in-store purchase.
