If you receive the error message 'There is a problem with your Connection Manager settings.  Please check your settings and try again' 

Resolution:
Be sure to verify your Connection Manager settings for typos and ensure that port 1433 is not blocked by virus protection software, a firewall, router or other network related cause.  In most cases port 1433 will not be blocked on your firewall; however, if it is you will need to enable it.  Access to the SQL Server database is done over port 1433 so that port must be open so CartGenie Desktop Engine can connect to the database of your Web site.

If you are unsure on how to verify that the port is not blocked or how to unblock the port you can search for ‘unblock port 1433’ in a browser.  Microsoft also has an article pertaining to this issue for Windows XP SP2: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842242.
