Hosting Secure Folders in WebsitePanel

Question:

Can I create a password protected secure folder for my Web site?

Summary:

You can create individual Users and/or Groups that have access to secure directories for your Web site.

While you could create one universal username and password we would NOT recommend it because if an employee leaves they will still have access and you would have to create a new username and password for everyone. It's initially a little more work to set it up on an individual basis but it will help you maintain security.

WebsitePanel USERS:

1. Log in to the WebsitePanel

2. Select Web> Websites

3. Click on the Website name

4. Select Secured Folders > Enable Secured Folders

5.  Add a Folder/User/ Group

You will also need to verify that the following settings are correct.  All of these settings will be found in the Web Site section of your host space:

  1. The following Prerequisites apply to websites on DotNetPanel (IIS7) that wish to use Secure Folders.
  2. Integrated Windows Authentication must be disabled.
  3. Basic Authentication must be disabled.
  4. Must use the Integrated Pipeline for your website

*If you receive the following error: "An ASP.NET setting has been detected that does not apply in Integrated managed pipeline mode."
add the following code to the web.config file:  <validation validateIntegratedModeConfiguration="false" />
